Spalted Magnolia Vase. This might be one of my favorite yet! I know, I know. I say that every time! Maybe this is my favorite because I had to work so hard till completion. This was everything but easy. Magnolia is a rare find so you don’t ever want to waste even the smallest of piece. I think I held my breath most of the turn! Identifying what part of the piece is going to take the stage, that’s one […]
Magnolia. My first Magnolia piece wasn’t as well done as it could have been. Every time I would start in with my gouge it would catch and shred the bottom hold near the chuck. To be honest, I thought it was hopeless which was tremendously upsetting considering how beautiful Magnolia can be. One night, I was feeling inspired to try it out again. The first time I tried turning the internal portion of the bowl across the grain. I knew that […]
Everyday bowls. Cedar kind of night! #OhWhatANight. The first few images are a great example of what usually happens every time I turn!! Dad has to fix everything I break! Poor guy. I know he’s tired of having to stop what he’s doing to always fix my issues!! But, he does it without hesitation… Thank you, Dad for being my everything, inside and outside the shop!! Love you. This was a fun night. I spun four bowls in three hours, […]
Cedar Display Bowl. Paste wax finish. A Christmas order!! Can’t tell who it’s for…. #mightBeForYou!! You’ll have to wait and see!! I had to throw in a photo of my sweet girl, Nalah. She is the best shop dog. Well, except for all the wood she takes out of the shop to chew up in the front yard… oh Nalah!!
Spalted Maple Box. I turned this little box as a way to say “Thank you” to my Versus Coach, Nate. For those of you who aren’t aware of what Versus is, let’s just say it identifies a gnarly group of coaches who’s life passion is to push you past your threshold of ability, and keep you there as long as humanly possible until your body gives out… All because, they love people. I know it’s hard to understand. But, it’s […]
A perfect Saturday. Cedar is one of the best smells you can ever encounter! It surrounds you with an aroma of rich and saturated charm. If there was a scent to represent the most wise and strongest of man, it would be cedar! Speaking of wise men…thank you, Dad, for fixing all the equipment that I broke this weekend!! Bandsaw, sandbelt, lathe… I’m sure there were others!! And, thank you for sneaking some of mom’s cookies over to the shop!! […]
Sanguinetti Family. Givers. This little cedar bowl was turned and shaped for this incredible family. I really enjoyed this piece. The trunk that it originated from was all but beautiful. It was gnarly, cracked and seen by most as useless. But, in the end, it had something to reveal. I believe that is how this miraculous family sees others. There’s always hope. When most see that it’s time to give up on someone, Lucy and Jay see the possibilities. You […]
Cedar Dish. Ethan Goggans. ETG. Full of smiles! One of the kindest people I’ve ever met! Ethan is my main wood supplier. He and his dad are those guys who can do just about anything that needs getting done! They own a massive farm right off of Richburg Road, Sandy Run Farm & Nursery, where you can go and pick your own blueberry and blackberries every year. You basically can find anything and everything that’s awesome on their farm! I […]
